Alexander The Great Shield. The Macedonians deployed high relief embossing on their shield as evidence by all their coinage and monuments. One ancient coin in my collection even shows the head of Hercules in the center of a shield as Macedonian Kings claimed direct decent from him and Alexander saw himself as a new Hercules as evident in his coinage
