Description

Alexander the Great Lions head helmet: All current modern drawings of this helmet display a sea shell like device as Alexander's ear guard.  All of Alexander's ancient coinage however shows the lower jaw of the lion encircling Alexander's ear.  As a Numismatist I studied and collected many of these types.  Alexander's Lion's head coinage was the most numerous and widespread coinage design of antiquity.  The sea shell ear guard did not fit his coinage so I collected a dozen photographs of the famous Sarcophagus of Alexander before I finally found a well lit close up of the helmet which definitely showed not only the lions jaw encircling Alexander's ear but also showed some of the front and side teeth of the lion as well.  Limited gold and silver addition of 150 signed and numbered pieces. $545.  Add $250 for horse hair crest and feathered plumes
